1. Can I see the site before I pay?

Many designers ask for a large deposit first. Ask whether you will see a working version of your website before any money changes hands.

2. What is the total price?

Ask for a written price that covers design, build and launch. Then ask what is not included, such as photos, copywriting, domain names and hosting.

3. Who owns the website?

You should be able to keep your site, your domain and your content. Ask what happens if you decide to move to another provider later.

4. How many changes are included?

Find out how many rounds of revisions are covered and what counts as a change. Clear answers now prevent disagreements later.

5. How will the site perform on a phone?

Ask to view the previous work on your own phone. If it is slow or hard to read, yours may be too.

6. How quickly will you reply?

How a designer answers your first message is a good sign of how they will treat you later. We promise a reply within one working day.
